Banished from his home country after defamation of the Zimbabwean president, Kudzanai Chiurai —or Kudzi, to his friends—makes his art from exile in South Africa, where he lives in inner-city Johannesburg among a band of outsiders. In a neighborhood notorious for crime, Chiurai shines a light on locals to portray his personal experience living among exiles, refugees, and asylum-seekers—The Most Beautiful Boogey Man, included.
