The Rosetta Stone

The Rosetta Stone was discovered by French soldiers in 1799, when they were rebuilding a fort in Egypt. It holds writings in both Egyptian and Greek, and would provide a major breakthrough in decoding ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
