Kodachrome, Aerochrome, Woodburytype, Tintype, 16mm, et cetera are all fetishizing of obsolete film and processing techniques. They give works the vintage look, grainy quality or saturation of color, which provokes an instantaneously transformative and often nostalgic effect. Seen in both photo and video mediums, many artists undertake these media for the romanticized rigor, depth of color quality and conceptual process.

Artists who use this process include: Joni SternbachDiana Thater,  Chuck Close, Richard Mosse and  Cyprien Gaillard.
