Through a process of capturing light for a longer time than usual shutter speeds, artists are able to create mystical landscapes that keep certain subjects in focus while other features reveal the passing of time. Darren Almond is a great example and his Full Moon series documents exotic locales in the dead of night, lit only by moonlight. Through a long exposure, he is able to create stunning vividness unseen by the human eye.

Artists who use this process include: Darren Almond,  Hiroshi Sugimoto and Matthew Pillsbury.
