Agora Gallery opens two exhibitions this January 17th to herald in the New Year. In Substance of Abstraction, artists across five continents bring their explorations of abstraction to New York in an exhibition that confronts viewers’ expectations of color, form, and reality. These digital, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media paintings represent a powerful collection from talent hailing from every corner of the globe. In Portals of Perception, eight talented artists tackle a variety of subjects in their work, displaying clear technical master in drawings and paintings that push the bounds of what is real and what is surreal. The exhibition explores the theme of perception, and each piece reminds the viewer of how an individual’s notion of reality can be so easily shaped by preconception and personal history.

The exhibitions open on January 17, 2015 and run until February 6, 2015. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday, January 22, 2015. Entrance is free.
