Paper Sculpture by Emilio Aponte-Sierra

I am an experimenter of the arts with a mixture of influences, but at heart, a devotee of the fashion and glamour without a time or space. My paper sculptures draw on my acting background and my adolescent encounters with origami. All materials around us have a life of their own; each material has very specific expected social uses.  Paper, when used to create 3D art, is where the unexpected shows up. The energy and texture of my work cannot be created in the same way using other medium. I cut, fold, interlace, roll and twist the recycled paper to create 3D art pieces on canvas.
