Known for his dark sense of humour, David Shrigley focuses on the absurdity of the human condition. Working with the pathetic, melancholic and disillusioned attributes present in daily life, Shrigley’s imagery is both honest and entertaining—one cannot help but laugh at the realization that they have been in a similar situation. Through text and figurative elements, Shrigley contemplates issues such as death, love, insecurities and other emotional traumas.  Though this imagery bears a simplistic and chaotic character, these qualities form part of an extensively disciplined artistic practice.
