Contemporary anglo-chinese painter Xue Wang will be exhibiting her new collection entitled Heebie Jeebies at George Thornton Art on the 5th October 2013 with a special preview with the artists herself from 1pm until 5pm.

Xue Wang was born in Northern China in 1980, the Year of the mischievous monkey. Wang is hailed as one of the forerunning artists in the low brow movement, having exhibited in London and L.A. with collectors across the globe.

Her whimsical oil paintings combine nostalgic Victoriana themes such as vintage fashion, film iconography and pink-up imagery with childhood paraphernalia such as dolls, toys and fairy tales.

Doll like girls always play a huge part in her paintings and are often the focus. Often dark and shocking, her work is never without meaning.

Wang is definitely one to watch, check out some of her work below. Contact me for more information at [email protected]
