Before or After Frieze . . .
. . . try these on for size:
(1) New Art Dealers Alliance Fair: Much smaller in size, but still offering a dynamic range of galleries and dealers pitching work from rising talents. Be sure to visit Jill Conner of AS (Artists Studios), a database of non-represented art that seeks "to create an online space in which one can view art that is less accessible than art created by represented artists."
(2) Laurel Nakadate's "Strangers and Relations" at Leslie Tonkonow: Photographs of strangers, friends, and all things in between, that the artist met at night in remote corners of the United States and Europe.
(3) "Jack Goldstein x 10,000" at The Jewish Museum: The first major retrospective of this central figure in the Pictures Generation.
(4)John Singer Sargent at the Brooklyn Museum: This not-to-be-missed exhibition features over 90 of Sargent's watercolors, many from his travels throughout Europe and North Africa.
