House of the Nobleman is pleased to present Paper Vernacular, a new exhibition which traces the diverse practices of contemporary artists working with paper. Paper Vernacular seeks to recontextualize paper as a neutral surface and consider its role as a varied, complex, and versatile medium. The drawings, collages, and 3D constructions in the exhibition, featuring over twenty international artists, represent processes which seek to translate vision and concept through a directly reactive material. This revived appreciation for paper will give priority to the artist as a scholarly maker and satisfy the innate need for authentic, raw, and hand-crafted artwork.
