Independent New York Announces Exhibitors and Details for March 2016
The March 2016 edition will mark the inauguration of Independent’s new home in New York – Spring Studios New York at 50 Varick Street in northern TriBeCa. This year’s edition will feature over 40 international galleries and non-profit institutions representing 9 countries, with many solo and site-driven projects under the curatorial direction of Independent’s founding Creative Advisor, Matthew Higgs.
Alix Dana has been appointed the new Associate Director of Independent New York, where she will work closely with Co-Founder Elizabeth Dee and Executive Director Laura Mitterrand to oversee communications and daily operations in New York. Alix joins Independent from public relations firm Nadine Johnson & Associates, where she represented global arts organizations and institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Dallas Art Fair, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow, and Museo Jumex in Mexico City.
Jonathan Caplan of Project Space, who joined Independent in 2014, will specially design the architectural scheme of the 25,000 square foot exhibition space at Spring Studios to reflect the spatial and curatorial interests of the participating galleries and institutions.
