David van Drunen (painting)
"Trinity" (acrylic and latex on canvas, 2013)
David's 1-foot by 21-foot work "Trinity" was conceived as a linear painting, each 7-foot section relating to an aspect of the Holy Trinity. Beginning with royal purples, greens and blues for the Creator, transitioning to blacks and reds of Jesus' sacrifice, changing to whites and yellows then back to purples and blues to depict the mysterious Holy Spirit - and so return to the beginning.
The linear canvas, breathing its particular narrative in a free flow of colour, is revealed as a scroll folding and turning back on itself in endless journey.
