“Because we do all of our sanding and priming in-house, I needed to carve out a section of the studio just for that. Many people don’t know but to outsource the priming—whether it’s wood panel or canvas—is extremely expensive. We get them [the wood panels] unprimed and then we seal them and then start priming them here. I have a special sanding tool called the Fest-Stool that actually sucks in the dust as you’re sanding, so it limits dust particles. I mean, it still happens but it’s probably about anywhere from 20 to 30 percent less. Otherwise it would be really sandy in here.”
