Craft and Art have a long and complicated relationship, that has not always been easy. Seeing the hand of the artist however is something that really comes to the fore in textile work, here are some amazing pieces. 

I believe the power in such work is the visceral sense of touch one has when looking at it. These materials have a comfortable familiarity from being so common in our domestic spaces, and yet when used for contemporary art they create unexpected associations for the viewer.
