Lucian Freud depicts Leigh Bowery
Johnnie Kling
An important series to note is Lucian Freud's depictions of Leigh Bowery. Both artist's time together shows their patience and confidence in each other's work. Bowery a performance artist is portrayed skillfully at rest in the set of stills. The link below shows the Tate's holding while the largest work of Freud's portfolio portraying Bowery is in private collection.
It is possible to see Bowery's work as an inspiration to Nick Cave's remarkable Sound Suits. Photographers have captured Cave in his Alvin Ailey trained poses. Hopefully these artists will have the capabilities to capture Cave to the same scale and at his most sincerity as well as Freud has for Bowery.
