I lived in center city Philly end of the 60's and early 70's and I remember passing a gallery window and seeing a life size painting of Hendricks filling the window and I was stopped in my tracks by the energy, vibrancy, and strength of this portrait.  A rendering of an individual like a person could see most any day in center city but it made you see the majesty, the inner being of this man, the pride and power.  I was compelled to return often to this street to look for new paintings by this painter.  He made me evolve to see others in the city with new eyes, aware of the beauty they had.  I've never forgotten in all these years.  I'm thrilled to find him again on Artsy.
