The spirit is what the soul is considered to become as it departs from the physical body at the moment of death.
It is this departure that I am addressing in this work. By using the imagery of a veil, associated with mourning and funerals as well as the visual links related to ghosts or spirits I wanted to show the beginning of the soul rising, leaving its physical host.
The veil like qualities reflect the lack of a physical being whilst also creating a curtain between the life that we know and the possibilities that could happen to a spirit once it is no longer contained by a physical form.
Does a lifeless heart stop beating?
