This conceptual work is based on the significant article<sentences on conceptual art>, written by Sol Lewitt in 1969.The artist invited her father, who has nothing to do with contemporary art and knows nothing about English, to read it aloud. In order to make it work, artist transliterated every single syllable into Manderin, Cantonese and Dandaonese(a kind of dialect of Cantonese, father’s first language). Each language is discriminated by diverse typography. This piece of work is trying to examine the authenticity of art and investigate the boundary between “within context” and “beyond context”, through fabricating and presenting a seemingly convincing but ridiculous scene. Meanwhile, how he read it aloud eventually generates a plentiful artistic visual poem with which I made it into another conceptual piece as a book.
