Englewood NJ—MARK GALLERY is delighted to announce the opening of its new exhibition entitled “AMERICA’S WOMEN” featuring new paintings and works on paper by internationally acclaimed Colombian-American fine artist AMERICA MARTIN. The show will open with a cocktail reception in honor of the artist on April 5th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, free to the public.

America Martin, who is based in Los Angeles, studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and then completed an eight-year apprenticeship with artist Vernon Wilson. America’s striking works have led her to dozens of solo and group exhibitions across the country.

In celebration of spring, America Martin has created joyful and compelling works on canvas and paper for her third solo show at the Mark Gallery. Large-scale paintings – composed of thick layers of paint, strong lines and exuberant colors – are harmonized by America’s lyrical signature style, which melds classical, impressionistic and figurative elements. This series is an ode to spring, to Persephone, when she emerges from the shadows of the underworld, and with her grace makes the flowers bloom, the fruit grow and the winter fade away.

America’s work celebrates the classical dignity and beauty of the female form. Her art encapsulates a sense of enthusiasm and hope. Women are America’s dominant subject. Large, vivacious and accessible, they seem to burst out of the limits of each canvas and work on paper. A pulsating interplay of color, texture, line, and shapes captivates the viewer who is surrounded and immersed in a joyful exuberance of women. America Martin finds profound joy in celebrating the female form. In fact “joy” is the signature feature of her artwork, and besides her great talent, it is the reason her work is widely collected by many celebrities and international collectors.

America Martin’s work will be featured at the gallery from April 5th through May 22nd. MARK GALLERY provides its clientele with personalized service in a relaxed environment, only minutes from New York City.
