A contemporary art intervention- exhibition in the island of Paxos.

Paxos Municipality presents the group exhibition of contemporary art titled Post Vacation Blues, which will take place in the Loggos Old School from 4th to 31st July 2014.

Post Vacation Blues is the first group exhibition of contemporary art realized in one of Paxos historic buildings and produced by the Municipality of Paxos. It aims to blend the artworks of 6 artists with a very particular and varied artistic language, which is at the same time characterized by a lot of common elements and by an intense sensitivity about what is happening in Greece and the rest of the world.

The works exhibited, paintings, sculptures or in situ installations refer to a collective memory and to its loss, to the meanings of “network” and plexus deriving through Nature’s geometry, to the potential co - existence of politeness, finesse, bluntness and violence or to the exploration of human temporality.

Abstract landscapes on plaster converse with “deflated” sculpted masks and fragments of an archaic past while in parallel, paintings with textures of meaningful and realistic depth interact with large black plexus or small dimensions’ works which explore the detailed procedures relating to some kind of architecture and tend to speak about truth and clarity.

A bilingual catalogue will also accompany the exhibition, which – apart from the exhibited art works presented in a way that reveals the pre-existing dialogue between them – will also include a theoretic text of the art historian and curator, Sotiris Bahtsetzis. The catalogue will constitute “proof” of the exhibition and finally will work as a visual calendar of the artists’ procedure in interdependence with the island of Paxos itself.
