Biennials and Beyond

I was very excited to find out today that Phaidon Press has just published the second of Bruce Altshuler's two volumes documenting modern and contemporary art exhibitions, Biennials and Beyond: Exhibitions that Made Art History, 1962-2002.  The book presents twenty-five exhibitions through installation photographs, catalogue essays, and contemporary press, beginning with “Dylaby” at the Stedelijk Musuem and concluding with Documenta 11, and seems like required reading for anyone interested in modern and contemporary art. (Jean Tinguely was one of the artists who participated in "Dylaby.")
