The gender ambiguity of these subjects reflects our inner duality. As men and women, we struggle against the rigidly defined roles we are"taught", and expected to present. I find the gender  ambiguity plus the quasi- surreal settings  of these subjects to reflect the "Stranger in a Strange land " conflict I personally encounter in reconciling my humanity outside those externally imposed roles. To me, this is very thought provoking work,  whether it's the artist's intent or not.
