“The Mercy of Not Killing” by multi-talent & conceptual artist Chen Chenchen 陈陈陈 is a series of performances exploring the interconnectedness of human experience.
Artist Statement:
"'THE MERCY OF NOT KILLING' depicts an interpersonal relation that is easily overlooked in nowadays society. It refers to a situation in which an individual restrains his will in various ways to avoid killing others around him. This mercy can be viewed as a joint positive power generated by balancing a variety of forces that a human of modern society has to bear. Thus, a glamour of humanity beneath this social order will be ultimately unveiled. From its real life representations, the exhibited artworks are devoted to extract such a delicate relationship for audiences to explore." (Chen Chenchen)
不杀之恩是人与人之间的一种常常被忽略的状态,一方用各种方式压制了杀死他人的意愿之后产生的之于对方的恩情。是作用在心灵上的多股力量相互制衡后产生的积极向上的合力,是社会秩序中的人文经络。本系列作品试图将这种微妙的关系提纯出来。
