My Highlights from Art Los Angeles Contemporary

What I like about these 5 works is the way in which they all take familiar iconography and recontextualize it both in terms of juxtaposition with other compositional elements and, in most instances, the choice of material. These are all remarkable art pieces, but they also all seem as if they'd fit well in a space alien’s cabinet of curiosity.

My Selection:

Nicola Samori, Boneless Scene, 2014, at Ana Cristea Gallery

Stephen Lichty, Sword, 2012, at Foxy Production

Alain Biltereyst, Untitled, 2013, at Jack Hanley Gallery

Carey Denniston, To What Degree a Stone is a Stranger / To What Degree it is Withdrawing (CC), 2013, at KANSAS

John Houck, #1, Axonometric and 27mm Perspective, 2012, at On Stellar Rays
