Astrovandalistas/Effect Lab: Disrupting Tachnologies

Astrovandalistas is a translocal artist collective founded in 2011. Its working center is located in Mexico City. Their work focuses in artistic action, activism and research and utilizes technology as a tool. As the name of the group points out, they take a transgressive approach to the subjects and like several other art net movements, they try to question the established structures creating free parallel nets to the internet and pose questions related to issues dealing with freedom of speech, ecology, human relations and in some cases the social problems of the countries where they operate from. 

The project Æffect Lab is made up of a laboratory of research and the creation of a free communication network based in affectivity. In the same vein as the name of the collective, the title of this project is a play on words which combines the idea of the effect and affect, emphasizing that human communication is the medium and final product of the piece.
