The most expensive painting in the world.

This is from a series of 5 oil paintings, one of his last before his death in 1906. In 2011 one was privately sold to the royal family of Qatar for an estimated $250 - $320 million. 

The one sold was the largest of the series, at 97 x 130cm and what I found interesting was that throughout the series the paintings became simpler and simpler. Starting with 5 men, some paintings and background materials and slowly turned into the artwork you see here.
