What day do you know June 1st in Japan?
Actually, June 1st is “the photography day" enacted by the photographic association of Japan. Unfortunately, this anniversary is not very familiar in Japan too.
They thought that it was the day when photography of Daguerreotype was originally successful, but it turned out to be a wrong description later. However, they continued this June 1st as “the photography day", and it carries out various photo events such as awards project and "the month of photography, Tokyo" since 1951.
By the way, September 17, 1857 is collect. Shiro Utsuki, Ushuku Hikonemon and others of Satsuma clan photographed Nariakira Shimadzu lord, and it has archived at Shoko Shuseikan in the Kagoshima.
“The month of photography, Tokyo” is a photo event co-hosted with the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum held for about two months mainly around "the photography day.” Many exhibitions will be held in more than 60 galleries in Tokyo during that period.
Currently, we participate in this "the month of photography,Tokyo 2017" with Yoshio Kiyonaga's photo exhibition "Wall in the city".
In addition, their main exhibition that focuses on foreign photographers living in Japan entitled "Foreigners Who Love Japan" is held this year. And in the international exhibition "Asian photographers 2017”, they picked up Cambodia. It is a valuable opportunity to catch a glimpse of Cambodia's "now" which has been remarkable in recent years.
Now, it is a comfortable season to enjoy strolling and we hope you will enjoy the Gallery Walk in Japan.
