"Greta Magnusson Grossman: A Car and Some Shorts"

The title of this exhibition, which originated at the Arkitekturmuseet in Stockholm and is now on view at R 20th Century in New York City through June, comes from the San Francisco Examiner article seen here, from July 27, 1940. While researching the exhibition, the curators found the clipping in one of the extensive press scrapbooks from Grossman’s estate. Greta Magnusson Grossman, captured in this glamorous dockside photo, listed these purchases as her “number one objective” upon arriving in America. This quote was chosen because it represents the playfulness and humor echoed in the forms of Grossman's lighting and furniture designs.
