Vhils's "Reflection"
Rebecca Bronfein Raphael
The artist Vhils always destroys something to create an image: be that drilling a wall, using bleach to destroy ink, ripping sheets of billboard paper or, in the case of his "Reflection" series, allowing the rusting process to eat away at an iron panel. The image is executed using rust free solution and then the sheet is weathered, the rust eats away at the untreated metal and a very shallow relief is created. Check out more of Vhils's work here.
