John Outterbridge at the 55th Venice Biennale
The 55th International Art Exhibition, The Encyclopedic Palace
Becoming an artist “was just a natural process” for John Outterbridge, a sculptor and installation artist known for imbuing his work with social activism. Affiliated with the Dada-inspired California Assemblage movement, Outterbrige salvages trash, broken glass, rusted steel, and other source materials from burned-out L.A. buildings.
