Ina Schoof & Ana Baumgart - Concept of the Intermediate
Ina Schoof and Ana Baumgart are two German photographers and media artists. While they are based in Berlin, The Avant/Garde Diaries met the two artists in the Sahara Desert outside of Marrakech, Morocco. Ina and Ana share the belief that there is no more truly unknown territory to explore, so they suggest constructing new places. For this project, the artists made a fishing net, took it out of its regular context, and brought it to the desert. “Through the combination of differences, the intermediate can occur," they say. "It’s about constructing new territory. The avant-garde is the search for one’s own blank space, where the ground becomes shaky.”
