Jim Drain has worked in every medium from sculpture to sweaters (and the 2010 installation pictured above). His current obsession is ribbon, which he paints and weaves into abstract patterns on flat canvases. This latest body of work will make its debut at L.A.'s PRISM gallery on November 10 in the show "Drain Expressions."

The exhibition is just one of the many projects the prolific creator has going on. Right now, he's busy preparing for the art world's decent on his adopted hometown of Miami next month with a slate of activities at the Bas Fisher Invitational, including a new edition of the artist-led Weird Miami bus tours and a group show to go along with it.
