If visiting, Wroclaw this month, an abstract exhibition at Galeria  Miejska is showing works by the city's prominent artists

IDEO - METRIE / 31.01.2014 - 01.03.2014

Abstract concept sometimes used to refer to things that are not localized in space or in time, in this sense, numbers, properties, sets, suggestions, and even facts, may be considered abstract, and individual physical objects and events are concrete . The ability to create and use of abstraction is considered necessary for higher cognitive functions, such as the formation of the courts, the understanding of knowledge resulting from experience and lessons learned.

The term abstraction is roomy and operates a number of ways in the context of art in the process of creating an image. Abstraction is devoid of any features illustrativeness - interest in the artist focuses on the form and content, the presentation of non-figurative, often deriving from the transposition of reality.

In the visual abstraction appears as a line, for example, points, geometric objects and stains - is the result of cleaning by some to raise general. And in the semantic layer can contain everything - the relationship mathematical, philosophical concepts, travelers can also provide emotional and knowledge derived from the continuity of cultural heritage as a basis for inferring a new idea.

Selection of work narrowed to abstract art projects which are not only the expression of a painter, nor contain the same matter painting. Touring the invited artists are very expressive, mostly based on long-standing quest to understand the ideas and methods of imaging and building their own artistic concept.

When a half years ago I chose the title of Ideo-METRIE (the name by combining two words - the idea and the time signature), I wanted to introduce measures based on abstraction geometrizing, analytical (Gołkowska, Chwalczyk, Makarewicz, Milecka), then referring to the emotional aspect, semantic (Błażejewski, Lewandowski-Palle, Podsiadły), and relating to the transposition of objects abstracted from reality (Kołodziejczyk, Czaplicki, Śliz).

This arrangement, however, is only symbolic - if we look at the artistic achievements of some of them, we see how the attitude of artists being displaced within the accepted criteria, which means that the importance mixed with the design, analytical mind of the transposition and scientific perception of light scattering, color , line and shape, is the organic emotional stimulus.

Any artistic activities within the abstraction is a long process. Thus, embedding resulting from the action theory is a string, which, through simplification, we make new variants. Common to all the invited artists is a key need for exploring and analyzing the meaning of the image.

Makarewicz uses the method of construction and deconstruction in building a detailed diagram (model, which is characteristic of the composition) based on geometric concepts, such as point, line, plane figure. Accepts the principle of mathematical proof, argument or assertion. The transition from a mathematical method for visual deconstruction creates new opportunities for formal "picture" ideas.

Podsiadły emphasizes the spiritual aspect of his work, seeks to highlight the emotional states, expecting an emotional reaction from the viewer. Similarly Lewandowski-Palle, for which it is important to the emotional side of language abstraction (not evoking the direct meaning), and the reduction of mold tends to find such means of expression, which (as in suprematyzmie Malevich) allow the feeling of the work without meaning.

iesłusznie determined by the geometry of the abstract as " cold ", as a common feature of the presented work is the generation of tension between the work and the space that separates this work from the viewer .

Chwalczyk unequivocally declares that the space physically existing in the presented work , is created (through projections phenomena ) in the process of visual games and manipulation of light, saturation and hue . Time signature line dividing planes , proportion is the result of the search according to the compositional by artists. Relations planes , the length of the lines and shadows of three-dimensional objects are particularly important in the work Gołkowska . It creates logic circuits . Is convinced of the original function of thought - conception, the visualization approaches the ideal only in the form of pure geometric forms and mathematical relations . For Czaplicki for which energy form and context rear three-dimensional shape in a public space is important , and Śliz , which treats its own projects as the effects of open process ulegającemu transformations , both in the formal and semantic - abstracted element of reality takes on a new meaning, does not lose its assigned code or matter arising out of tradition.

Images Milecki contain another element - repetition, builds the structure of measure that is assigned to the surface of the painting. Monochrome images contain surface texture of a fine grit coated with paint, and embedded shimmering particles. The principle of the meter in Błażejewski appears in compositions containing various tensions and rhythms of color systems. As he writes: "In this I use the visual message of the signs-symbols as carriers of information."

ołodziejczyk builds a "tectonic image" through and density stratification planes. Inspiration reality is revealed in her most. This painting is most strongly embedded traditional thinking about the result of action painting.

Layout images in a gallery is built on the principle of gradation of equivalence relations of ideas, time signature, the sign of the texture, from the analysis, by transposition of approaching the matter, reaching the limit after which they begin to express painting.

Biographical notes and a description of the nature of artistic activity, artists invited to the exhibition, are placed in the catalog accompanying the exhibition.
