Finding Tom

I have spent a lot of time plucking images from the internet and dropping them into folders on my desktop titled "inspiration" and "too good". They are stacked with photos of photos, paintings of inanimate objects, color palette's that make my head spin, and simply images that captured a time period that I only wish I was alive during. There is always a small feeling of triumph when I accurately match the artist to the image that has struck me because constant regurgitation of imagery, often times the proper credit gets lost in the fold.

When I realized Tom Wesselmann was the brains behind the images of suggestive shapes and colors that I had begun hoarding I had a sense of relief. Like any red-blooded American, he is naturally attracted to tits and ass. It wasn't the naughty subject matter that appealed to me, but the simplicity of his execution. Straight and to the point, but not with out a sense of attention to detail to the most sensitive parts of the female form.
