Shadow Sculpture

The shadow art, are unique four dimensional art pieces conceived and created by the couple artists Bassam Al-Selawi  and Maysoon Masalha (Jordan)  - Bassam is currently the applied arts manager at the Abu Dhabi Art Hub (UAE).

The artists'  unique shadow sculptures combine modern sculpture techniques with Arabic calligraphy (verses from the Quran). When projecting a spotlight on the three dimensional sculpted words (Arabic calligraphy), the shadows create a singular figure. Perhaps what is most powerful about the artworks, is the way the sculptures and their respective shadows interrelate, thus creating a visual narrative and illustrating each other in an unparalleled four dimensional way.
