A Loss of Innocence
John Paul Fauves’ most recent collection, “A Loss of Innocence” talks about the human condition and how we are all exposed to desires. He exposes how sometimes these temptations can evolve into a hedonistic lifestyle, where the search for pleasure is the only road no matter the consequences. He considers his style to be Neo Pop Fauvism, a term that is still new to our time. The use of color with lots of texture and his deconstructive ideas of art create harmony amongst the chaos. His tale is a manifestation of existing and an interpretation of the soul inside the body in this life experience expressed through art, in other words, the soul speaking through art. Fauves' latest venture includes exploring the enigmatic concept of a "No Profile", an unfathomable idea in today's society. Hiding behind an online persona has become synonymous with the representation of our "authentic" selves, despite the obvious curation of our digital representations. Fauves takes a daring leap into exploring the concept of the disappearance of these online personas, through his work, representing the reincarnation of those whose lives have been shaped by commercial excess or online narcissism. Overlaid over the shadowy icon of a missing profile picture, iconography of the world’s leading businesses represent the empty soul of today’s society, void of meaning outside of the pursuit of external validation. Fauves’ latest series aims to reflect this interpretation back to the viewer, perhaps allowing them to see into the void and grant them the ability to reflect on themselves, seeking a deeper meaning.
