La Grande Bouffe - Issue No. 4
The Spring/Summer 2013 theme is "La Grand Bouffe," based on the 1973 Marco Ferreri film, in which food is "the last hope hidden in the despair of living. Each contributor approached the theme as abstractly as they'd like. We asked for loose interpretations and are most engaged with the rigor and discipline of pushing boundaries, testing limits, be it minimalist or hyper expressive.
Contributors to the current issue include Marina Abramovic, Agathe Snow, Aric Chen, Asger Carlsen, Cay Sophie Rabinowitz, Hans Ulrich Obrist + Simon Castets, Chris Burden, Daniel Gordon, David Horvitz, Davide Balula, Frédéric Malle + Sissel Tolaas, Josh Kline, Josh Weil, Lucas Blalock, Luis Gispert, Luke Stettner + Carmen Winant, Melanie Bonajo, Nicole Wermers, Pete Deevakul, Raul Martinez, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, and Seth Zucker.
Each issue is launched with a dinner and special project. For issue 4, an afternoon picnic was held at The Glass House in October and featured a special edition project with scent artist Sissel Tolaas x perfumer Frédéric Malle, sold exclusively on Artsy. Chef Ignacio Mattos of New York's renowned Estela created a five course picnic for WZ contributors and special guests while Rafael de Cardenas designed limited edition blankets for all guests.
