Everything you wanted to know about art..
William Lipton
Sadly, you forgot to include one of the most import works on the collecting of art. Reitlinger's, "The Economics of Taste."
He concluded that art is not beyond the whims of taste. Works go through cycles of desirability. Art should never be bought as an investment. It is a risky one. You buy a work of art because you love it. As you develop connoisseurship, you learn what makes one work better than another . You own taste changes too.
