Grace Kelly

Andy Warhol’s Grace Kelly is one of the Pop artist’s signature celebrity portraits, capturing the elegance, poise, and beauty of the American movie star and Princess of Monaco. In a screenprint edition of 225 plus 20 artist’s proofs, Warhol portrayed Grace Kelly with her blonde hair pulled back, showcasing her striking blue eyes and pouty lips covered in red lipstick. Obsessed with celebrity tragedy, Warhol completed the edition in 1984, just two years after the actress’s death at age 52. The artist produced the portfolio in a fundraising effort for the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, where Kelly was born (and just hours away from Warhol’s hometown of Pittsburgh).
