Agnieszka Brzeżańska
Polish, b. 1972
Born in 1972 in Gdańsk, Agnieszka Brzeżańska studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and Warsaw and at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music. In her work, she utilizes a variety of media such as painting, drawing, photography, film and ceramics in order to explore elusive links between various registers of knowledge from physics and philosophy to contemporary ecology and systems of cognition marginalized by modern science, such as alchemy, parapsychology, esotericism, native knowledge or matriarchal traditions. Her recent solo exhibitions include "Ma Terra", Vera Munro, Hamburg (2015), "It will all come easily with grace and joy", Marlborough Contemporary, London (2015), "Ziemia rodzinna", Aleksander Bruno, Warsaw and Muzeum Współczesne Wrocław (2014) and "Kobayashi Maru", Nanzuka, Tokyo (2014). Agnieszka Brzeżańska collaborates with Marlborough Contemporary in London, Nanzuka in Tokyo, Vera Munro in Hamburg and Kasia Michalski in Warsaw.
