Alawode Azeez
Alawode Azeez is a versatile Nigerian artist whose creative practice spans painting and printmaking. With a strong foundation in fine arts from Yaba College of Technology, Azeez's work blends modernist abstraction with traditional African influences. His distinctive style is marked by bold line work, expressive textures, and symbolic representations of human forms and experiences.
Drawing inspiration from both the cultural richness of Nigeria and global contemporary movements, Azeez's pieces often explore themes of identity, heritage, emotion, and human connection. Through a unique combination of sculptural relief, tonal compositions, and intricate layering, his works create a tactile experience that invites the viewer to engage both visually and physically.
Azeez has honed his craft through an industrial attachment at Ovuomaroro Studio and Gallery, one of Nigeria’s leading art spaces, where he studied under renowned artist Dr. Bruce Onobrakpeya. A regular participant in the Harmattan Workshop, he has developed a signature approach that fuses traditional African artistic practices with contemporary techniques, especially in the realm of printmaking.
