Alessia Iannetti
Italian, b. 1985
Alessia Iannetti is known as an Italian exponent of the American figurative avant-garde of Pop Surrealism. She distinguishes herself for the masterful use of graphite on small and big board, where she models breathtaking images.
Iannetti is the queen of darkness and enchanted woods, proliferating with novel creatures and shiny snowflakes. Constant suspense dominates her world, where the unknown can be hiding behind every eyed-tree and cut frame. In Iannetti’s monochromatic landscapes, made by black and white nuances with some golden and silver touches, everything becomes possible and most of all, we find ourselves reflected in the alarmed gazes of the enchanted figures, lost in the mystery of this limbo of the mind. In those instants of stillness, when pale children and fairies try to catch garish butterflies, and their flight can be felt in the silence, the unconscious looks us back in the eyes, to reveal a magic truth, a secret concealed for centuries.
