Alfredo Esparza Cardenas
Mexican, b. 1980
MA in Humanistic Studies with a specialization in History by the UV of ITESM (México, 2008). He
graduated from the Contemporary Photography Seminary of Centro de la Imagen (México, 2012). He
has solo and group shows in Argentina, Colombia, Iceland, the USA, the UK, Spain, Guatemala, and
México. Member of the National System of Art Creators in México 2021-2124. Twice recipient of the Art Production Grant from the Municipality of Fjarðabyggð, Iceland (2023 & 2022). Shortlisted for La Bienal en Resistencia 2021 in Guatemala, Guatemala. Winner of the VII edition of AI-AP Latin America Photography (New York, Usa, 2018). Winner of the “Arte Resiliente" incentive, granted by the Secretary of Culture of Coahuila (Saltillo, México, 2020). Shortlisted for the XVIII Photography Biennale of Centro de la Imagen (México City, México, 2018). Honorable mention at the contest Visible Memory (Medellín, Colombia, 2018). Special price at the Third Contemporary Photography Contest (Monterrey, México, 2018). Residencies: CPR (Brooklyn, USA, 2019). Fish Factory Creative Centre (Stöðvarfjörður, Iceland, 2019 and 2017). Listhús (Ólafsfjörður, Iceland, 2017). 357MX (Tlalnepantla, México, 2011-2012). He was the head of the department of exhibitions from 2012 to 2015 at the National Museum of Popular Cultures (México City, México). His work is part of the collection of the Inter-American Development Bank (New York, USA), el Museo de la Cancillería (México City, México), and the Museum of Graphic Arts of Saltillo (Saltillo, México).
