Aljona Shapovalova

Aljona Shapovalova (1978) is an artist from the Caucasus, North Ossetia. She received a strong academic education in art, which gives her the opportunity to freely work with various contemporary visual techniques mixing with academic drawing skills. Compositionally clear minimalist painting, graphics and collage are the main directions in her art. Architecture and visual arts from ancient ruins to modern industrial facilities interwine with ideas of modern life, virtual space and media to shape her visual and conceptual ideas.
Aljona is a participant of many exhibitions and biennials, including the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art. Her art works are in the collections of museums, foundations and private collections around the world.
