Analía Saban
Argentinian-American, b. 1980
Analia Saban’s sculptures and textiles disrupt traditional notions of painting and blur the boundaries between artistic disciplines. A former student of Paul McCarthy and John Baldessari, Saban experiments with unconventional techniques and new technologies, embracing trial and error as part of her subversive process. She has unravelled canvases and reassembled them as knitwear, woven paint and thread into minimalist compositions that evoke the aesthetics of Sol LeWitt and Agnes Martin, and folded slabs of concrete like fabric over wooden sawhorses. Saban’s works have been exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires, and beyond. They belong in the collections of the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Centre Pompidou, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
