Andrew Schoultz has a pictorial approach to social and political commentary. Through his paintings, drawings, murals, and installations, Schoultz uses symbols and iconography (such as the eye on a U.S. dollar bill, comics, 1990s clip art, and graffiti) to illustrate the weightier issues of contemporary life in America. Although Schoultz exhibits in galleries and museums, he often works in large-scale installations and public murals with the intention of making his work available to the general public. In densely layered, chaotic, narrative imagery, Schoultz explores environmental crises like oil spills and natural disasters, political issues such as war and corruption, and the economics of globalization and capitalism. Currently based in San Francisco, Schoultz traveled the United States skateboarding and producing graffiti before being lured by the skate scene and lenient graffiti laws …
