Biography

Antje Dorn is drawn to public systems of imagery and language such as street signs, pictograms, food and beverage packaging, and advertising. Her diverse practice encompasses mixed-media paintings, drawings, and wall-mounted sculptures. The uniting thread of her artistic production is Dorn’s consistent work in series, which all begin with an idea that she then finds the most suitable practice to express. For example, in “Ölölöl” (1984), she made graphic pictograms of everyday objects, from toast to stadiums, while for “Pupille” (2009) she made several dummy cameras from mixed media.
