Antonio Sannino
Italian, b. 1959
Antonio Sannino produces brilliant oil paintings of landscapes, waterscapes, and cityscapes. Sannino depicts bustling cities, such as London and Rome, and the massive geometric skyscrapers of New York City figure heavily in his work. The three hearts (2021), for instance, depicts an exuberant city scene full of bright lights, busy streets, and Coca-Cola advertisements. Despite the absence of human figures in the painting, Sannino evokes the frenetic energy of major cities through his intricate and multi-layered brushstrokes. He also produces paintings of glistening waterscapes, in which detailed patterns made from vivid blues and greens transform into the illuminated surface of different bodies of water. Sannino’s dazzling works have been exhibited in London, Miami, and New York.
