Archie Reid
Canadian, b. 1992
Archie S. Reid is a transdisciplinary artist who discovered his creative process in Montreal's underground cultural circles. He straddles the line between photographer, painter, performer, programmer, pantenteux, poet and more.
In his practice, inspired by a blend of collage and polymorphic processes, he likes to juxtapose mediums in order to reinvent them. His process is experimental: movement becomes sound, sound becomes image and image becomes gesture. He likes to say that he collaborates in his research-creation with technological aids to metamorphosis.
In June 2023, the Hexagram Arts and technology research network will present his first solo exhibition during a residency. This performative installation is entitled Mes Métas-Corps. During this exhibition, he will perform VJing and synthesized music with interactive avatars.
He also works as an arts and technology educator in institutional and community settings, as a graphic designer for artists' books, on poems, and on analog music projects. He is now completing a master's degree in visual and media arts at UQAM.
