Though she was academically trained in painting, Arianna Carossa has a research-based art practice that is not specific to a singular medium or discipline. Carossa uses such diverse substances as ceramic, gravel, salt, resin, ash, marble, and wool, in addition to traditional painting materials. Her works are united in their pursuit of narrative and fiction, frequently in the disruption of linear sequences of events. In 2012, Carossa created one of her better-known series based on the mythological Greek ship Argo; the series included photographs sourced from the internet, wood and brass sculptures, and altered found objects. Carossa has also been known to incorporate sound elements into her installations.
